What are the mailing lists all about?

The fifteen year old girl gathered her belongings alongside several friends. They hyperally stacked the boxes of old peach goo and crotch references in a tall pile into the cyber moving van.

April sighed and put the last box in. "I feel like singing Memories don't you guys?"

The other list members shuddered,"Um...don't feel like ya have to, dear,"smiled a tired Cynthia. Cheshire suddenly popped out of nowhere and sat perched upon the boxes that would go to the new list.

"Hmmm....I see were all ready to go, eh?" she said with a toothy grin.

April tried to grin as wide as her but failed, so she merely smiled as a mortal would, "Yep, I can't wait for the new list to be settled..."

Persephone smiled and sat upon the ground, "Yes, but I'll never forget the times we had here."

In a flashback montage the list members see Feykitchens in all it's messy glory, we see's Walter's posts of riddles and explainations, Joe's POV's of everything from bras to pendulems, Persephone's glitter era, the peach wars that left us giddy on a rainy day, the poems and fanfics that have paved the path for new fanfics, the chaos, the surprises, the basic babble about everything that ever was whether it was lore to Star Trek to Cynthia's implore on what guys like in chests, the good the bad and the ugly...that's what they remembered, and they wouldn't give up any of the three...

The group of list members jumped into their new Mystery Labyrinth Machine (actually it's the scooby doo van but they bought it a auction and had it renamed - hey, it was that or the Partridge Family bus!) and drove to their new home in which they new they'd build new dreams.....dreams only last so long, but they're great while they last.
Love, April D.~~~

just let me dance, dance, dance, now I'm wiser than dreams.."~DB

The second list, [email protected], is exclusively for fanfiction such as poetry and stories. Comments regarding a story should either be sent directly to the author, or, if you have a rather insightful comment to offer (something more than, "I liked it! Can't wait for the next chapter!) then you can share this with [email protected]. Fanfic authors live for this kind of attention, so don't feel shy about telling them how much you liked a story or poem!
Dear Coollist users. Thank you very much for your patience and for using Coollist over the past few months. There was a lengthy downtime period over the past few weeks due to various reasons.
We have now acquired our own dedicated server, capable of much more than our old system. What took so long? We took our site down to transfer all data and software when our new server arrived. This process was meant to have taken no longer than 2-3 hours max!
However, after using the new system for a few hours, we discovered that the hard drive was faulty! We looked at putting the old system back online, however, we decided against it as mail deliveries were peaking at about 120,000 per day! Our old system was designed to handle a maximum of 100,000 emails only! Coollist had grown too quickly for us!
We sent the faulty hard drive back and it took a whole week for our supplier to send one lousy hard drive back to us! During that time, we programmed a new mail delivery system, so that new accounts can be activated instantly and mail would be delivered more efficiently.
The good news is, Coollist is now working on our spanking new Sun machine, capable of handling at least 1,000,000 emails per day. We are also looking at purchasing the Solstice mail Internet Mail Server in the near future to further speed up deliveries.
Our staff would like to thank the staff members at Astra Labs for their quick action on this matter. Most importantly, we would like to thank all you users who have waited so patiently!
MSN and Prodigy users have reported that they cannot post to the coollists, even though they receive the messages fine. At this time, I can only speculate that the below explanation may be a factor. However, reviewing the administration area of the Coollist home page, I discovered that Coollist appears to now ignore the cases on subscribers' addresses. Therefore, the below explanation appears to be totally incorrect now:
Please keep in mind that coollist is extremely case-sensitive. Let's suppose [email protected] is subscribed, but the address is somehow altered by America Online when he posts. [email protected] will receive list mail, but his posts will be rejected by coollist with an error message saying, "There is no such list." If this happens, Jareth can try to see if his address is being altered by his mailing program and re-sub under the correct capital/lowercase lettered address. This problem has been noted especially with MSN users.
Walter Pullen has figured out the problems with MSN users not being able to post. Here is his explanation of the solution:
Hi all! Well, as my posting of the 3D Maze solution shows, I can post to our
new Labyrinth list. That's significant because I (along with a few others)
was indeed having problems before, where I could receive all messages sent
to the lists fine, but attempting to send something to it would have my
message bounce back saying I wasn't subscribed!
Anyway, what Maze King would be worth his salt if he couldn't solve a
problem with a Labyrinth list? :) The problem is that my outgoing mail is
flagged as being from "[email protected]" instead of what I consider
my real address, which is "[email protected]" (sending mail to either address
will still get to me). I was originally auto-subscribed under
"[email protected]",
and I just had to unsubscribe then resubscribe using the correct address.
You just need to reply to one of those "Confirmation of Subscription" coollist
messages, which will automatically subscribe you using your current, i.e.
correct, address. My problem should have affected everybody who's on MSN,
where all MSN users should have the "classic" thing being added.
It has been reported that when you reply to the above unsubscribe message, you receive an identical message in return and your request for unsubbing is ignored. Coollist says that this is no longer a problem, however.
I've tried unsuccessfully to ask Coollist tech-support for assistance, or at least, an explanation for various problems. If you'd like to deal with them yourself, please feel free to contact [email protected]. Comments can also supposedly be sent to [email protected]. If you'd like to report a new problem to add to this page, please E-mail me. I can guarantee frequent updates of this particular page, given the importance of the lists running smoothly. However, it's much faster to contact me directly, that to use the lists to contact me, as I only check the fanfic list about once a week.
